The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (hereinafter referred to as the “IRDAI”) has issued a Press Release on launching of the Bima Sugam India Federation website (hereinafter referred to as the “BSIF” ) on September 17, 2025. The website was unveiled by Mr. Ajay Seth, Chairman of the IRDAI, in the presence of Mr. Rakesh Joshi, Chairperson, BSIF and Mr. Prasun Sikdar, MD & CEO, BSIF.
The Chairman commented that Bima Sugam is a key initiative in building India’s Digital Public Infrastructure for insurance, aiming to empower policyholders, increase insurance penetration, and promote transparency. The website launch marks a major milestone, supporting the goal of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’ under the Viksit Bharat 2047 mission.
Mr. Rakesh Joshi said that the website launch marks the first visible step toward creating an inclusive, seamless, and tech-driven insurance ecosystem in India.
Mr. Prasun Sikdar highlighted that the website unites all stakeholders of insurance industry and marks the first step toward transforming insurance access and transparency for every Indian household.
The platform features shall be introduced in phases to maintain the highest standards of security, compliance, and scalability. Aligned with the Board-approved roadmap, the marketplace will gradually launch with real transactions as insurers and ecosystem partners finalize their required integrations in the coming months.
