IRDAI – Handbook on Indian Insurance Statistics 2024-25

The IRDAI has uploaded the Handbook on Insurance Statistics for the year 2024-25 dated February 03, 2026.

Key highlights of the statistics are as follows:

• The number of companies (including SAHI and reinsurers) increasedfrom 73 in 2023-24 to 74 in2024-25 (as on March 31st).
• The number of Foreign Reinsurer’s Branches increased from11 in 2023-24 to 12 in2024-25 (as on March 31st).
• Insurance Density as per Swiss Re-sigma reports increased fromUSD 95 in 2023-24 toUSD 97 in 2024-25.
• The number of new policies issued increased from3,651.65 lakhs in 2023-24 to4,183.75 lakhs in 2024-25.
• The total premium increased fromINR 11,19,613 crores in 2023-24 toINR 11,93,444 crores in 2024-25.
