The Ministry of Finance has notified the date of commencement of the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 in the Gazette of India vide its notification dated February 03, 2026 bearing Ref. No. S.O. 490(E).
Key highlights of the Gazette notification are as follows:
- The Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 shall come into force from February 5, 2026.
- All provisions of the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 shall come into force from February 5, 2025, except Section 25, which pertains to Section 32A of the Insurance Act, 1938 regarding the “Prohibition of common officers and requirement as to whole-time officers.”
- The Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 was notified in the Gazette dated December 21, 2025 after receiving the assent of the President.
- The Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 has introduced amendments to the Insurance Act, 1938, Life Insurance Corporation Act, 1956, and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999.
