Expert committee for matters related to mental health.

IRDAI vide ref no. IRDAI/HLT/ORD/Gen/73/03/2023 dated May 12, 2023 has issued an order appointing an ‘Expert Committee’ for holistic examination of the various aspects of it necessary from the insurance perspective.

A. The Committee is comprised of the following members:

• Dr. Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS, Bangalore, Chair.
• Dr. Nimesh Desai, Former Director, Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, New Delhi, Member.
• Dr. S. Kalyanasundaram, Practising Psychiatrist, Bangalore, Member
• Mr. Bhargav Dasgupta, CEO, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd,Member.
• Mr. Mayank Bathwal, CEO, Aditya Birla Health Insurance Company Ltd, Member.

B. The “Terms of Reference” of the Committee has been prescribed as under:

• Advice on coverages offered/to be offered under insurance products, for mental illnesses.
• Advice /inputs on terminology, concept and the like on matters relating to mental illnesses from the medical domain perspective.
• Advice on various aspects relating to mental illnesses from the insurance domain perspective.
• Any other relevant aspect related to the subject matter of mental illness.

The Committee shall be in force for a period of two years from the date of this order..
