IRDAI vide ref No: IRDAI/HLT/CIR/REG/244/12/2022, dated December 08, 2022 has issued a Circular on “Insurance cover for new-borns/infants under Health insurance policies”(Circular).
The Authority has drawn reference to Circular, dated October 12, 2022 on “Modifications in definition of Critical Illnesses prescribed in Guidelines on Standardization in Health Insurance” and has clarified the following:
- All insurance products including Arogya Sanjeevani Policy that covers newborns/ unborns, shall provide coverage from day one(1) without imposing any waiting periods/sub-limits or any other restrictive conditions
- “Internal Congenital Anomalies” stands deleted from the list of diseases under “specific waiting period”
