The IRDAI has placed the minutes of its 134th Authority Meeting held on March 9, 2026.
The key highlights of the meetings are as follows:
1. Approval for grant of Certificate of Registration
The Authority considered various regulatory matters and approved grant of Certificate of Registration to two insurance entities enabling them to undertake Insurance business. The entities approved are as follows:
- M/s Allianz Jio Reinsurance Limited – Reinsurer
- M/s Kiwi General Insurance Limited – General Insurer
2. Regulatory framework pursuant to SBSR Act
The Authority deliberated on the regulatory framework required pursuant to the enactment of the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 (“ SBSR Act ”), which was notified on December 21, 2025, and effective from February 5, 2026.
3. In-principal Approval for Draft Regulation
To expedite regulatory alignment and incorporate reforms under the SBSR Act the Authority granted in-principle approval for drafting and publishing draft regulations for stakeholder consultation.
