IRDAI has issued a Circular on May 21, 2024 bearing ref No. IRDAI/LGL/CIR/71/5/202 dated May 01, 2024 whereby the Authority has withdrawn its earlier circular bearing ref. No. IRDA/LGL/CIR/MISC/080/12/2009 dated December 17, 2009 (“Withdrawn Circular”) with immediate effect.
The Withdrawn Circular mandated the insurers to submit information relating to all the cases filed against them by the policyholders in the various consumer courts (i.e. District/State/NCDRC) and details of cases filed by the insurers challenging the awards passed by of the Ombudsmen in the different courts on a quarterly basis in the prescribed format.
