IRDAI vide its Press Release dated July 17, 2023 has issued instructions to all General and SAHI Companies to mobilize all resources to ensure immediate service response for settlement of claims. IRDAI has issued certain guidelines for the Insures, which are as follows:
1. Communicate the nomination of a Senior Executive in each affected State/UT to the Chief Secretary/ Officer of the concerned state.
2. If any, District reports large number of claims then it shall be overseen by District Claims Service Head.
3. Publicize the contact details of such officers on their websites and media.
4. Respond and assist the claimants through their 24×7 helplines.
5. For settlement of claims, set up special claims desk at district level with delegated claims settlement teams.
6. Encourage policyholders to use electronic communication wherever possible.
