IRDAI vide Press Release dated June 19, 2023 issued instructions to all General and SAHI Insurers to ensure immediate service response for claims relating to Cyclone Biparjoy. However, a similar Circular, bearing number IRDA/NL/CIR/MISC/133/06/2023 dated June 16, 2023 was issued which focused on claims relating to Cyclone Biparjoy.
The Insures are advised to communicate about the nomination of a Senior Executive in each affected State/ UT to the Chief Secretary/ Officer concerned of the State. Further, the Insurers are required to swiftly respond and assist the claimants through:
1. 24×7 helplines
2. Special claims desk at district level with delegated claim settlement teams.
The Insurers are also required to encourage electronic communication wherever possible with the policyholders.
