IRDAI vide it’s circular bearing Ref No: IRDAI/HLT/CIR/MISC/150/7/2022 dated July 20, 2022 on the “Standards and Benchmarks for the Hospitals in the Provider Network” (Circular) has partially modified its earlier circular bearing ref. no. IRDAI/HLT/REG/MISC/199/07/2021 dated July 23, 2021.
The major highlights of the Circular are as follows:
- To enhance the scope for offering cashless facility across the country, the insurers are now empowered to empanel the network hospitals that meet the standards and benchmarks criteria as specified by their respective boards.
- Board of the insurer shall particularly consider the ‘minimum manpower and healthcare infrastructure facilities’ while specifying the criteria.
- Board approved empanelment criteria shall be published in the website of the insurers from time to time.
- Insurers are also advised to focus on ‘the delivery of quality healthcare services’ while empanelling network providers for cashless facility.
The Circular shall come into effect immediately.
